Agape is an independent Christian dating product for adults who want a marriage, not a never-ending swipe. We are not a church. We are the boring infrastructure: profiles, filters, chat, and moderation.
The meaning of Agape
In the Greek of the New Testament, agape is love that keeps faith with someone — costly, stubborn, not a mood. It is the word Paul reaches for in 1 Corinthians 13 when he says the greatest of these is love. We borrowed the name because dating that cannot imagine covenant is just shopping.
We cannot put that kind of love in a database. We can refuse to design the app as if your worth were a streak of likes. Filters for denomination and values exist so you meet people whose life with God is in the same neighborhood as yours — not so we can sell you a halo.
Faith-first
Church life is not buried in Advanced Settings. Denomination, attendance, and intention are part of the profile because they are part of the decision.
Intentional
Agape is for people who can say Genesis 2:24 without irony. We still give you block and report, because Christians are not automatically safe.
Moderated
We review reports, require live selfies for a verified badge, and remove accounts that scam, harass, or sexualize the space. Community is a practice, not a slogan.
Who we are
Agape is a small, independent team shipping a dating product for Christian singles. We are not backed by a denomination. We do not speak for your pastor. We do not offer marital counseling, deliverance sessions, or prophetic matching. If you need pastoral care, go to a real church with real people who know your name.
What we do offer is software: a web app and an Android app, profiles that include faith instead of hiding it, discovery that can filter by denomination and values, chat after mutual interest, optional Premium, and a support inbox at team@agapechristiandating.com.
What we will not optimize for
- Keeping you addicted to a stack of faces you will never meet.
- Pretending a verified badge means someone is mature in Christ.
- Publishing fake wedding testimonials to look bigger than we are.
- Letting romance scams hide behind Bible verses.
How we decide what to ship
If a feature makes it easier to lie, harass, or hide, it does not ship. If a feature exists only to squeeze another swipe out of a tired person at midnight, it does not ship. If a feature helps two adults who already want marriage to find each other without pretending to be someone else, it is on the list: better filters, clearer profiles, verification that is annoying for catfish and boring for honest people, and support that answers mail.
We would rather be a smaller, specific product than a generic dating clone with a verse in the splash screen. That also means we will not pretend to be your church. Discipleship happens in a congregation with elders and friends who can see your face. Agape is a door, not a living room.
If this product is working, you will spend less time in it over time — because you are having coffee, not polishing a bio. That is the opposite of how most consumer social apps keep score. We are fine with that.
